Jana of the Jungle

Jana of the Jungle was part of the Hanna Barbera Power Hour, 1978.

The synopsis is: An infant girl is orphaned in the Amazon rain forest and is raised by the native chief, Montaro. As she grows up, she becomes a lithe maiden perfectly at home in the jungle, armed only with a special neckband she can use as a throwing weapon that her jaguar companion, Ghost, is trained to retrieve. Together, with Montaro, who is armed with the mystic Staff of Power, they now search for her father and helping people along the way against the dangers of the jungle and its enemies.

Hence, my nickname used to be "Jana of the Jungle" long before any little kid called me Jana Banana. And, if I have my way, I will someday go to the Amazon rain forest, wear a protective necklace, and proclaim to all the jungle creatures that "I am Jana of the Jungle....." and wait for my jaguar to show up.

not marzipan babies

I totally fell for the "marzipan babies" e-mail from yesterday, and today found out that they are not only polymer clay, but the artist is only 25 years old... these are so cute! I want one!

TAB Energy Drink

This stuff is evil. It tastes freaky, it makes your heart thump strangely, and it is not the TAB my mom used to drink years ago. Also, it is pink. Not just the can, the liquid. Pink??

Ingredients: all crap, plus Niacin, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, Ginseng, Guarna, Caffeine, Sucralose rather than Saccharine.

Don't buy it.

we need to be reminded....

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most. We ask oursleves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won’t feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in all of us. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Opening Night

Opening night was pretty darn funny. On dress rehearsal, the tiniest girl of the cast... weighs about 80lbs~... sat on a previously broken chair that had been re-glued and the thing collapsed
beneath her.. and that was a highlight!

Last night was better, but we are taking so many ad lib liberties with Neil Simon's work (inadvertently, of course!) that as Tina's boyfriend said, "It's like a different show every night!" Manolo and Jesus getting tickled on stage was like watching an episode of Carol Burnett show when Harvey Korman would be laughing so much they'd all join in.

We had some interference from cb radios driving by, the curtain got a bit hung up, we had our share of "deer in the headlights" looks, but it was a blast and I do love that cast...

Now we'll do it again tonight! Cheers!

New Play Picture

This is me as Olive Madison in Neil Simon's The Odd Couple-female version... I am running lines with Andy, who plays Jesus Constazuela..... we look better than in the last play, no?

Well, at least I do! He probably prefers the natty tie of a Congressman.....

Kid #1

This is Dirk, my eldest. He turned 17 in January and is so tall, and has such a deep voice, that you'd swear he was older. I look at those big green eyes, and that chin that used to be baby smooth with no goatee.. and I remember a sweet baby that hated to sleep because he may miss something. A baby that learned to walk at age 10 months, could speak in complete sentences and knew his alphabet, numbers, colors, shapes and many songs before he was 2 years old, and has been flirting with older women since he was in the delivery room. Loves to make me laugh, loves pumpkin pie and coffee, and loves life.

More photos of kids coming soon!

Doug

This is baby kitty, Doug. Douglas is the youngest kitten of Sammi... the cat that Dirk brought home from a party because it was hungry and needed a home.. proceeded to fatten up and get preggers, and had her four kittens right next to me on a towel on my bed. Weird cat, that Sammi... we gave his twin to my friend's children, who re-named her from Pat to "Belle", she is fluffy and lovely.. Doug was the runt, the one that Sammi nearly gave up cleaning up. He became our favorite and now, well, Doug is just getting bigger and bigger each day. He is loud, he is affectionate, and we can't imagine not having him. Jade named him after my father, the original Douglas... we told my Dad this over the summer. He didn't get it. Probably because my father can't hear a THING but refuses to wear a hearing aid, "what did you say, deah?" gotta love those old Maine guys...

Doug, you are now on the internet, little guy. Sleep on.

God awful wig and all.
okay, I am a glutton for punishment... I am in yet another Community Theater Production. I capitalize this because It Is The Final Week of Rehearsals, which means I Have To Know All My Lines by Friday and Saturday.

I am a moron.

here is a picture of me and my newest best buddy Andy, as Daddy Beans and Aunt Cora in The Fatal Fifties Affair:
well it won't let me post it, try again later....
A lot of guys think the larger a woman's breasts are,
the less intelligent she is. I think it's the opposite.

the less intelligent the men become.
